CV Preparation

A "CV" has one purpose - "to introduce you to a potential employer and obtain an interview for you"

Remember employers who read CV's are under massive time constraints these days, so you want headlines that impact and make the employer want to read more. If your CV is to lengthy or detailed the employer might get board and give up reading the full length of the document.

Howard James Limited have generated a CV template for your use (free of charge) please use it if you have not got a CV or refer to it to ensure your own CV is laid out effectively..

Things to remember

Presentation                                 Keep it short and concise 2 or 3 pages max

Check Spelling and Grammar         Double check the document, then have someone else check it

Check your Dates                         Check dates to ensure they don't overlap. If they do explain why

Employment Gaps                        Explain any employment gaps where they occur

Avoid Using "WE"                         Make all paragraphs about what you have achieved

References                                   Always a good idea to include references for the last two years

Always take a copy of your CV to interview and "NEVER" lie or exaggerate anything on your CV you will be found out.
